The 1956 Olympic Cauldron – another piece of Rayson’s history

In 1956, Rayson Industries won the tender to design and manufacture the Olympic cauldron for the games in Melbourne.
Engineering the design from an architect’s sketch, the cauldron was built from 16mm gauge steel and stood 182 cm tall and 192 cm’s wide.
The company installed and serviced the unit throughout the Games. The cauldron is now on display at the National Sports Museum - visit www.nsm.org.au for further detail.
